Fence Staining / Painting

In Robert Frost’s poem “Mending Wall” he wrote “Good fences make good neighbors”. While the meaning of this statement has been debated we know that bad fences definitely make bad neighbors. If your fence is starting to show some age or you just built a new fence and want to keep it looking sharp, give us a call.

Did you know that a fence should be stained and not painted? The reason for this is because the fence is in the ground the wood will absorb moisture from the ground and as that moisture evaporates it will not be able to pass through the thick paint coating causing the paint to peel. Since a stain is a thinner more ‘breathable’ coating moisture is better able to ‘escape’ without causing problems. If you want a painted look (i.e. a white picket fence) we can use a solid color stain to get the best of both. If your fence has previously been painted most likely it will need to be painted again as a stain may not adhere correctly.

Depending on the size and type of your fence we may have one of the crews brush and roll or they may spray. One is not necessarily better than the other it is just a matter of skill level and which can save time and therefore save you money. We work on all types and sizes of fencing. Please give us a call to discuss your fence painting (or staining) project.
