Painting cabinets is a very popular service as it is a lot less expensive than replacing the cabinets but essentially gives the same result. If your cabinets are in good shape, you can hire us to revitalize them with a new color such as white or gray.
The Textbook Way
For Your Cabinets
We always aim to do things the “textbook” way. (Hence our name!) It is important to make sure the proper process is followed or the paint won’t last. It is easy to make cabinets look good at first, the real key is making sure to do it the right way so they look great in 5 or 10 years!
Cabinet Prep Work
The first step is to remove doors and drawer fronts as well as all hardware. We then protect all of the surfaces in the kitchen such as the countertops, floors and appliances. We also set up the kitchen for spray painting by putting up plastic walls, bringing in mobile ventilation and masking off all of the cabinet openings. The surfaces require a thorough cleaning with a degreaser. Then the existing coating will need a light sanding to remove any gloss or varnish. Paint will not stick to a slick or shiny surface. We have invested thousands of dollars in dustless sanding equipment to give the absolute best result.
Priming the Cabinets
After wiping down the cabinets and doors, we are ready to prime. We will use a primer that is specifically designed for cabinets. On oak cabinets, we add an additional coat of primer that is applied with special rollers to work the primer in to the wood grain. While we can not fill all of the wood grain on oak cabinets, this step is necessary to give the best results.
Painting the Kitchen Cabinets
Finally, we apply two coats of a top-quality product called a 2k Polyurethane. We purchase this product, which is imported from Italy, because it is the gold standard for fine wood and cabinet finishing. It is the standard in Europe where environmental standards are more stringent than in the USA and we want to use the best product in your home that we can.
All cabinet doors and drawer fronts are brought back to our shop in Lakewood to be sprayed with a special sprayer so they get a smooth, durable finish just like you would expect with brand new cabinets. The actual cabinets are painted on site in your kitchen either with brushes and roller or with a sprayer depending on your preferences.
Best of all, our premium cabinet painting services are backed with our Lifetime Touch-up promise to make sure they look beautiful for years and years to come! (For as long as you own the home.)

Crown Molding and Custom Trim
A Dramatic Upgrade!
If you were to replace your cabinets, you would want to upgrade a few things while also changing the color. For a fraction of the cost of replacement, our team can do exactly this. (and avoid the mess of a major kitchen remodel!)
We can add crown molding, light rails (bottom of the upper cabinets), under mounted lights as well as custom trim (such as bead board or wainscoting) to the island. Most custom trim work costs between $500 and $1,000.
Don’t settle for just painting your existing cabinets! Let us completely transform the look and feel of your kitchen.
Hardware and Soft-Close Hinges
What a Difference!
Kids slamming the cabinet doors is right up there with nails on the chalkboard. We can fix that and for most customers it is a lot less expensive than you might think. Often, on cabinets that are less than 20 years old, we can add soft-close hinges to all of the doors without needing to do any carpentry work.
While we’re at it, you probably want to change out the handles. We can even add handles if there currently aren’t any! We have the jigs and special equipment to change the cabinets to whatever style of hardware you would like. The possibilities are endless!
Cabinet Painting Colors
What color should I paint my kitchen cabinets?
Painting kitchen cabinets white or off-white is all the rage but there are so many beautiful options like gray or even navy. You don’t want to choose a color that is too “trendy” but you also want to make your kitchen stand out.
Our professional Interior Designer will help you select the color that is perfect for your kitchen (at no additional cost) but in the mean time you can check out this article to get some help with choosing a color to refinish your cabinets with.
