Color of the Year 2015 – Marsala
Every year in December Pantone decides on a Color of the Year, and for 2015, they have chosen “Marsala”. I would describe it as a sort of “fuschia” or a red wine with a hint of purple or maroon.
The image above was found at the the Pantone site. They talk about announcing the color there, and how it can be used in such areas as fashion and design, as well as others. You can also head over to the Design Milk site, where you can find some home decor ideas that utilize the color “Marsala”.
It may be a bit much to paint an entire room in “Marsala”, but it could make for a really great accent color. At the very least, it would look great on accent pieces throughout the room, such as pillows or a table cloth.
“Marsala” is a earthy tone that seems to pair well with many other colors, especially grays and taupes. I think it would look great in a room that is painted gray or taupe as an accent color, especially when paired with a light, muted blue additional accent color.
